SANTA FE, NM.- The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum will present Moments in Modernism - Georgia O'Keeffe and Andy Warhol: Flowers of Distinction May 13, 2005 - January 2, 2006. Georgia O’Keeffe and Andy Warhol are two of America’s best-known and most celebrated artists, both famous, in part, for their depictions of large-scale flower paintings. Warhol made his large-scale flower paintings in 1964, while O’Keeffe had first addressed this subject 40 years earlier, in 1924. While Warhol made most of his large-scale flowers in 1964 and 1965, O’Keeffe continued to make them until the early 1950s. This exhibition presents approximately 40 flower paintings by these artists, and demonstrates how each approached and brought his or her particular sensitivity to the depiction of this subject.

An exhibition catalogue will be available that includes essays by Museum Curator Barbara Buhler Lynes; Museum Assistant Curator Heather Hole; Neil Printz, author of the Warhol catalogue raisonné; and John Smith, Assistant Director for Collections and Research, The Andy Warhol Museum.
