Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Jane Avril (detail). Collection Musée D´Ixelles, Brussels. Belle Époque Poster - Musee D'Ixelles Collection exhibition in Madrid.

MADRID, SPAIN.- The exhibition hall of the Mapfre Vida Cultural Foundation presents the exhibition Toulouse-Lautrec and the Belle Époque Poster - Musée D´Ixelles Collection, on view through June 19, 2005. The exhibition was curated by Isabelle Six, Ephrem, and María López. The Ixelles Museum of Brussels has more than a thousand Belle Époque posters, that is one of the five best in the world for its quality.
More than a hundred of these have been selected for this exhibition that allow us to visit the history of the creation of the modern artistic poster and understand the context in which it developed. Without doubt, the best poster artist of all times was Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, of whom we can see 32 of the 33 posters he created throughout his life.
The exhibition is very important as it shows for the first time in Spain the Toulouse-Lautrec poster collection and also reviews the so called golden age of European artistic poster, a fundamental moment for the birth of modern advertising.
