Aberystwyth Arts Centre Presents Horace Ove |

ABERYSTWYTH, WALES.- The Aberystwyth Arts Centre presents Horace Ove, on view through April 30, 2005. Living and working in London for three decades from the 1960’s onwards, Trinidad born Horace Ové captured the emergence of black politics in Britain. 1960’s Britain was a hotbed of political and creative activity. Ové was at many of the meetings and captured the events as they unfolded and photographed such figures of the period as CLR James, James Baldwin and Darcus Howe as well as the founding members of the Caribbean Artists’ Movement. He recorded the birth of the Notting Hill Carnival and charted its growth through the 70’s & 80’s. He has recently brought his work up to date with new portraits including Sir Trevor MacDonald and Prof Stuart Hall. A Nottingham Castle Touring Exhibition.This exhibition is co-curated by Jim Waters and David A. Bailey, and in association with Autograph - ABP.
