Single Mom Support: 3 Secrets for a Better Future

In today's society, single-parent families are increasingly present. In this, the single parent has the responsibility and care of the children. Recent statistics show that there are 1.71 mil single mothers in Canada.

For single mothers, it becomes essential to be able to get some help. It is already difficult to reconcile career and private life in a family with both parents, let alone one in which the parent is only one! That's why it is absolutely necessary to develop a "method" so that everything works as well as possible.

Here are 3 of the most important single mom support tips.

Tip 1: Single Mom Support: Know Your Benefits and Rights
Single-parent families are more and more common today. Here is some useful information on what rights and benefits single mothers can enjoy.

Baby Bonus:
All future mothers, including single women, receive a baby bonus. If you have a baby, Gov. will provide a monthly payment for children of different ages. This is a tax-free allowance.

Age of children Yearly Allowance
Under 6 $6,496
6-17 $5,481

Family Allowance
Like all other families, single mothers are also entitled to all the family allowances. The fact that the family is incomplete or the husband is not in the picture will not reduce the chance of getting benefits.

Maternity leave
As per Canadian law, the mother can get a 35-week standard parental benefit. Also, she can have a paid maternal benefit for a maximum of 15 weeks. In these benefits, she will get 55% of her earning per week.

Other Rights
How to get alimony? Do I get housing allowances? There are a lot of questions we ask ourselves.

Do not hesitate to take a tour of your CLSC to find out all that is available to you: coffee-gatherings, telephone assistance, legal aid, sports, educational activities, etc.

Tip 2: It's okay to ask for help
The ego has already done enough damage. It has made us believe that we have to do it all ourselves, that we have to show that we are capable, that we are autonomous, that we are independent, and that we do not need help.

To need help would be to admit to being weak, right? Well, no.

The truth is that help is not only desirable; it is also necessary. You can ask your friends and family for it, or you can hire them. It's okay to hire a babysitter from time to time.

Hire someone to clean your house or take care of your taxes. Maybe you need someone to talk to, either in person or online.

Parenting forums and blogs have done a lot of good for many mothers who have seen us alone. Delegate everything you can. You don't have to do everything personally. Forget about the super-woman image and ask for help as many times as necessary.

Tip 3: Learn To Optimize Your Finances
A single mother must be prepared for any eventuality. If I could only give one piece of advice, it would be this: learn to create a passive income system.

It is that income that you continue to receive without the need to work, for example, rental income, copyrights, or income generated by automated businesses.

If I could give two tips, the other would be: create an emergency fund. You don't have someone else to cover for you in an emergency. So it's best to be prepared beforehand.

And, of course, learn to reduce your expenses as much as possible. Spending less than what you earn allows you to save, saving allows you to invest, and investing makes your money generate more money.

It will support you big time.

Bonus Tip: Look For a Male Reference
It is good for children always to have a male and female role model to learn from. It doesn't matter that your children are not boys. They still need it.

Sometimes it isn't easy to find a balance. You have to know how to find a balance between the role of role model and the role of father, which is quite another. It can be a family member, a family friend, the parent of a child's friend, a teacher, etc.

There are too many men worldwide to allow our children to be reduced to an exclusively female world.

Conclusion
Finally, do not hesitate to ask for help and support from those around you. You will often notice that the people around you are eager to help if you ask nicely.

Mother Hood is not easy. And being a single mother is ever tougher and can be overwhelming. Take all the single mom support you can get. This will make your life easier, if not completely peaceful.
