BOISE, IDAHO.- An extraordinary exhibition, Georgia O'Keeffe: Visions of the Sublime, re-examines the work of one of America’s most iconic artists. O’Keeffe was a visionary who provided us with new ways to view our surroundings and explore our inner selves. This exhibition spans more than five decades and features 30 paintings and one sculpture by O’Keeffe, together with photographs by her husband, Alfred Stieglitz, and images of O’Keeffe by noted American photographer Todd Webb. Complementing these works are 18 paintings by earlier American artists that exemplify the concept of the sublime in landscape painting. Included are works by Albert Bierstadt, Martin Johnson Heade and George Inness from the Hunter Museum of American Art and the Butler Institute of American Art. Curated by Elizabeth Hutton Turner, Marjorie P. Balge-Crozier, and Joseph S. Czestochowski. Organized by International Arts, Memphis, TN. Presenting Sponsor is Wells Fargo, with additional support from Beaux Arts Société, Albertsons Inc., J.A. & Kathryn Albertson Foundation, Washington Group International, Hardy Foundation, and BAM Exhibition Guild (BEG). Media Sponsor: Idaho Public Television. Please visit our website at www.boiseartmuseum.org for more information.
