SYDNEY.- Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre announced online access to their collection, an initiative that will continue to see the Centre provide universal access to the arts and expand its acclaimed digital program. From August 20, over 200 artworks from the expansive collection will be available to discover and enjoy online – including 114 pieces from celebrated Liverpool artist Gina Sinozich who sadly passed away this June.

Gina Sinozich was a local Casula based artist, known for her distinctive artistic style and powerful story-telling ability. A Croatian-Australian immigrant, Gina and her family arrived in Australia after World War II, making the voyage by boat from Istria following the dissolution of Croatia. Gina first took up painting at age 70, as a way of expressing and coming to terms with the impacts of her husband Eugen’s dementia before using it as a method to capture the many stories of her remarkable life.

Gina’s life and stories will live on through her works, and with access to CPAC’s collection online, it is hoped future generations will be able to discover her artistic practice and reflect on her life experiences. A major exhibition of her work is scheduled for early 2021.

Recent acquisitions and artwork by local Liverpool artists will also feature prominently in first release of artworks. The Centre will continue to add works to the website as it continues its collection digitisation program.

On September 5, an exhibition featuring a selection of works from the online collection website will open at Casula Powerhouse, providing an opportunity for audiences to experience some of the highlights from the website in person.

Located on the banks of the Georges River, the Casula Powerhouse is a multi-disciplinary arts centre. Showcasing six galleries and featuring a range of permanent and temporary exhibitions, the Casula Powerhouse is a premier art space in South West Sydney. Boasting a 321-seat theatre, Casula Powerhouse plays host to a range of theatre and cinematic productions each year.
