PARIS.- Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the health risks associated with the organization of an international event, La Biennale Paris today announces the postponement of its 32nd edition to September 2021.

Georges De Jonckheere, President of La Biennale Paris, explains: “Together with Anisabelle Berès-Montanari, President of the Syndicat National des Antiquaires and all the members of the Board of Directors, we have made this difficult decision by recognizing that the health situation will not allow the organization of a major international event such as La Biennale Paris and the gathering of thousands of dealers, collectors, professionals and visitors as is done each year. La Biennale brings together dealers, collectors, professionals and art enthusiasts from all over the world. More than 85 dealers had already confirmed their participation this year.

Our priority is to ensure the health of all concerned and to act responsibly for the benefit of our profession, which is already hard hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. We owe it to dealers to eliminate all uncertainty by informing them of the decision today, so that they can enjoy proper visibility in the last quarter of this year. Thanks to the early measures put in place by the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, the organizer of the Biennale Paris, our exhibitiors face no financial risks.”

In March, La Biennale Paris proposed to all exhibitors that the payment of their participation fees be spread out over four months after la Biennale and that all dealers be exempted from any advance ahead of the fair.

In 2021, La Biennale Paris will take place inside the Grand Palais Éphémère designed by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte who continues to collaborate with la Biennale.

A number of dealers have already confirmed their intention of participating in the 32nd edition of La Biennale Paris in 2021, including: Ariadne Galleries (New York, London); Galerie de la Béraudière (Brussels, Geneva); Brun Fine Art (Milan, London); Didier Claes (Brussels); Colnaghi (London, Madrid, New York); Galerie Yves Gastou (Paris); Galerie Jacques Lacoste (Paris); Laffanour - Galerie Downtown (Paris); Yves Macaux (Brussels); kamel mennour (Paris, London); Galerie Mermoz (Paris); Galerie Neuse (Bremen); Galerie Lucas Ratton (Paris); Rosenberg & Co (New York); Galerie G. Sarti (Paris); Galerie Steinitz (Paris) as well as jewelers Boghossian (Geneva) ; Anna Hu (Taipei) and Vhernier (Milan)

Georges De Jonckheere, President of La Biennale Paris, notes: “My heartfelt gratitude goes to our colleagues, partners and supporters for the enthusiasm and continued trust that they have shown us for 2021.

In the meantime, we must continue to be creative and imagine ways of pursuing our passion and our activity this year without taking the slightest health risk. We are working on the organization of a series of online events in 2020 and will announce the program at a later date.”
