Berlin Artist Christine Perthen, 56, Dies

BERLIN, GERMANY.- Berlin artist and art professor Christine Perthen, 56, died of cancer. She was well-known for her individualistic style. She produced extremely reduced and very detailed works that portrayed the symbiosis between human beings and nature, and the cycle of life and death, love and hatred. Her graphical black-and-white works’ strength was smoothed by colorful lines, cubes and areas. She was born in Pirna/Sachsen in 1948. She studied with Werner Klemke at the Academy of the Arts of the GDR. She had been an art professor at the Academy of Art White Lake.
