Jersey auctioneer Just Collectings Prestige Collectibles Auction offers bidders the opportunity to own the unique and bizarre.
The March 26-ending auction features a life-size fibreglass T-Rex head, estimated at £6,000. A Fidel Castro-signed Bolivar cigar case (with cigar) is expected to achieve £1,000, while the most valuable lot is a miniature (1.6 by 2.4 inch) handwritten Harry Potter book by JK Rowling, with a £100,000-150,000 estimate.
Small book, big price
Rowling wrote the unique 31 page book in 2004. In it Rowling has penned extracts of the welcome letter Harry Potter receives from Hogwarts at the beginning of the first book.
Pages include: Students may also bring an Owl OR a Cat OR a Toad, and: Parents are reminded that first-years are not allowed their own broomsticks.
Just Collectings Dan Wade comments: Weve watched the market for the rarest Harry Potter books soar tenfold over the past decade or so, as childhood fans of the series have grown up to become serious collectors.
I think every Harry Potter fan in the world would love to own this book, so were expecting a lot of interest and maybe even a couple of bids via Owl Post.
The St Helier-based auction houses other extraordinary offerings include:
Original vintage Japanese Geisha wig (estimate: £300)
Marilyn Monroes 1941 high school photo (estimate: £1,500)
Rolling Stone Mick Jaggers 1964 concert-used maraca (estimate: £1,000)
Madonna 2006 concert-worn hat (estimate: £600)
Piece of fabric from Charles Lindberghs Spirit of St Louis plane (estimate: £3,000)
Reggie Krays pocket watch (estimate: £1,000)
KFCs Colonel Sanders signed photo (estimate: £400)
These pieces are undoubtedly weird and wonderful, yet theyre also rare and valuable, says Wade. Own one of these and you have the ultimate piece to show off to friends and family.
