MEXICO CITY.- The public art project is a three level art piece composed of 7 rooms of sculpture, installation, painting, and performance work. The work is an experience created by Franz Klainsek to interact with the people of Mexico City in the neighborhood of La Roma. The 3-floor art building located at Álvaro Obregón 182 Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Mexico City, CDMX will be destroyed in a final performance by Franz Klainsek.
Each of the rooms are individually interactive and immersive pieces of art. Franz Klainsek takes us through a story of self-discovery, bravery, liberation and evolution using contrasting feelings and subliminal messages within his conceptual work. The installation as a whole represents a revolution of today - Liberación. His multidisciplinary artistic expression transforms the building into a piece that is focused on the liberation from limitations: limitations of the individual and of the society.
Huge element to be free from fear is our ability to stay in the moment. Fear comes from thinking in the past or future tense. Staying in the now is the only way to feel liberation. Franz Klainsek
The vast rooftop terrace continues the art experience with installations that represent respect to the history of the 1985 earthquake, tie the building into a united art piece through installations that connect the three floors, and light installations that communicate with the neighborhood.
Liberación is an experience of color and light: a Red Universe by Franz Klainsek that invites the neighborhood to participate - a public art piece, an experience that continues for blocks as the facade and the trees of the installation are radiating bright red haze of vibrant light.
Franz Klainsek is an American artist of Cuban and Austrian descent. His work is physical and emotional - it resides in the space between body and mind, feeling and thought.
Franz Klainsek addresses societal programming and its systematic effect on the human mind through his work.
Large scale sculptures and installations often include references to mans struggle to find Truth within a "programmed" society. His endurance art pieces bring awareness to societal issues that "cause suffering or keep us from being free."
The artistic expression of Franz Klainsek lives in the space of transformation: the transformation of the self and the transformation of matter. Franz transforms spaces into site-specific installations of immersive art, interactive installations, sculptures, paintings and performance work.
Franz Klainsek often uses materials used in industrial settings: simplicity of redefining the use of an object fascinates the artist. He explores the natures elements in his pieces as he plays with the tender space of destruction leading to creation.
Franz Klainseks work often lives in the space of impermanence. Working with installation art that has a lifetime of creation, existence and death: He explores the power of letting go through his work and always dedicates his work to be one with human experience.
Working on a grand scale, Franz Klainsek uses endurance work in his creations. Physically and mentally demanding pieces are created in the space of full body and mind dedication, self-exploration, and tolerance. The artist continues to push his limits as an individual and as a creator: his work - the continuous philosophical exploration of the self, the mind, and the societys effects on the self.
