LONDON.- Mimosa House is currently hosting IASI - the ongoing research practice of artist Georgia Sagri (b. 1979, Athens), which began this January. Sagri has previously exhibited with organisations including Documenta 14 and Whitney Biennial, and is a founding member of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Sagri has invited members from the public to Mimosa House to continue her research into self-care and recovery a practice that expands on over 10 years of work, and includes voice tuning, breathing and movement techniques.
This research was the basis for her iconic work Dynamis, which featured at documenta 14 (Kassel and Athens, 2017) and involved sharing these techniques with 200+ members of the public across the two cities.
The research and practice formation at Mimosa House consists of two parts:
1. Private and anonymous one-to-one sessions, taking place between January and March 2020.
2. Responding to the sessions with the public, an exhibition of case studies in the form of performances, objects, drawings and writings by the artist will open to the public on 14 February, running until Saturday 2 May.
Sagris collaboration with Mimosa House is her first institutional exhibition in the UK, which is also the inauguration of her research practice IASI, and her long-term commitment to working directly with the public.
