LOS ANGELES, CA.- Bonhams will launch its inaugural sale of Post-War & Contemporary Art in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 15. The sale is timed to coincide with Frieze Los Angeles and is highlighted by one of the largest collections of full-sized Supreme skateboard decks, as well as important works by Jonas Wood, Alex Israel, Richard Prince, Billy Al Bengston, Viola Frey, Andreas Gursky, Richard Hambleton, and George Segal.

The free and public exhibition opens February 8.

Included in the sale is one of the largest collections of the highly sought-after full-sized Supreme skateboard decks, produced by the streetwear brand between 2008-2019. The 152 skate decks, which will be sold as a single lot, feature works by renowned contemporary artists such as KAWS, John Baldessari, Cindy Sherman, Raymond Pettibon, Mike Kelley, Nan Goldin and many more. It has an estimate of $120,000-180,000. Supreme, founded over twenty-five years ago by James Jebbia, began as a boutique skateboard and clothing shop in downtown NYC, but quickly developed into a global brand. After producing its own trademark line of skateboards in 1998, Supreme became well-known for its collaboration with famous artists – using its decks as the canvas. The decks have quickly become collector’s items, not just for skateboarders or fans of the streetwear brand, but for art collectors for whom the limited-edition pieces represent fascinating alternative works by major artists.
