6 Simple Ways To Help Your Employees Deal With Stress at Work

Work is often one of the biggest parts of our lives. Outside of sleeping, eating, and home life, we spend a significant amount of our day in the officer or at work. If we spend so much time there, why would we want to feel like it is a stressful or an unfavorable place to be? The answer is that we do not want that, but it is impossible to avoid the stress of work sometimes.

Luckily, there are a lot of ways to manage, reduce or prevent stress in the workplace. Among these are mindfulness techniques and ways in which we get comfortable in our offices. If your employees are complaining about stress, or you notice that productivity is down from this issue, consider these 6 simple ways to help them deal with stress.

1. Meditation
Very simple, and very effective. Meditation can help easily reduce stress and create an environment in the workplace that allows for your employees to relax. Meditation sessions can help promote a more team-like attitude in the workplace as well, which is great for building trust amongst employees.

2. Comfortability
How comfortable people feel in their work space can determine how little or how much stress they have. Sterile, cold, or unfriendly work environments can equate to stress. Office chairs are a good, easy start to resolving stress. Chairs which allow for adjustments or movement are good ways for employees to stay relaxed, and these portable options are affordable, and effective for open work spaces or tight ones alike. If your employees are spending hours sitting during the work day, at least make it comfortable and provide support for back issues.

3. Healthy Food Options
Providing healthy food options during the day can be useful for mood boosting. Keep fruit and vegetables handy in break rooms and conference rooms so that your employees are being provided good nutrition. Good nutrition can lead to a clearer mind, and relieve stress.

4. Exercise Benefits
Exercising is similar to meditation in the sense that the body needs periodic movement and stretching to keep from getting stiff and clouding the mental state. Exercise is great for relieving stress through physical exertion. Sweating through exercise has been proven to release toxins and other forms of pollutants in your body. Being able to provide your employees with insurance benefits or work benefits that allow them to work out on their free time can give them that much needed stress releasing activity they craved. You can even go so far as including some form of exercise area at your office, if it is possible.

5. Reduced or Flexible Work Hours
Many European countries have successfully experimented with more unconventional work weeks by reducing hours or allowing for flexible schedules. This has given employees more freedom to spend time with their loved ones and do the things they usually cannot. While it may seem crazy to reduce the time your employees are at work, it actually has been shown to improve productivity because these employees are happier, less stressed, healthier, and get more sleep. While it might sound radical, it has shown promise for employers looking to get the most out of their employee’s time at the office.

6. Mental Health Days
If it is hard to get your employees more flexible hours or reduce their weekly workload, consider giving them some extra paid or unpaid vacation days. These can be worded as mental health days to allow your employees the free time to get their mind right away from work. The constant stress of obligations in the workplace can take a huge toll on mental health. This is one way to give something back to your employees and help keep them from building up too much stress.

Furthermore, to build camaraderie among your employees, you can find reputable companies like SunshineDestin rentals to arrange trips and boat rides. Getting away on a boat is a great way to unwind from work, build good relationships, and promote work-life balance for your employees, which benefits their mental health. It can also help keep your employees healthier and more focused while increasing their team spirit and motivation to work hard.

While some options may be easier to provide for your employees than others, the point remains that you have choices for giving some stress free solutions to keep you and your employees happy.

Among the options, you can consider how meditation retreats or breaks can be implemented in day to day office life. Getting your employees to relax and contemplate will reduce stress. Getting new chairs which provide more comfort around the office, healthy food options in the break room, exercise benefits in the insurance benefits, creating a more relaxed or flexible work schedule, and mental health vacation days are other excellent choices listed above.

Whatever options you plan on introducing in your workplace, think about how they will be able to reduce your employees stress to make improve morale and health.
