The large auction will take place over two days, Friday, February 28, 2020 and Saturday, February 29, 2020 with absentee, phone, internet, and in-house bidding available.
Fridays session, beginning at 9:30 am, promises to be a landmark event and features the important bottle and flask collection of the late Russell and Doris Evitt, Jackson, CA. Offerings consist of rare historical flasks, California and other bitters and whiskies, Willington and other pickles, pitkins and globes, snuffs, figurals, &c.; plus the sarsaparilla collection of the late Charles Timothy Tim Moore, Troy, NC. Highlights from the Evitt Collection include a rare 8.75-inch yellow-toned amber Cathedral / Gothic pickle jar, attributed to the West Willington Glassworks (1814-1872), West Willington, Connecticut., ex-Gardner Collection; a brilliant yellow green Lacours Western figural bitters bottle; a California handled whiskey bottle of chestnut form in deep red amber, embossed "NONPAREIL / TRADE MARK / KOLB & DENHARD / SAN FRANCISCO"; a GIII-16 Lancaster Cornucopia Urn pictorial flask in medium sapphire blue, Lancaster Glass Works, Lancaster, New York; and a medium amber California pictorial fire grenade of ribbed chestnut form retaining original printed label marked for the CALIFORNIA FIRE EXTINGUSHIER CO. of San Francisco.
Saturdays session, beginning at 9:30 am, should prove to be equally exciting and features additional material from the Russell and Doris Evitt estate collection, Jackson, CA; property deaccessioned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, Mount Vernon, VA, the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA, and the Strong National Museum of Play, Rochester, NY, each to benefit the Collections Funds; the John & late Evelyn Teague Collection, Bloomingdale, IN; the collection of Fil (John) and Robbie Graff, St. Thomas, PA; property from the estate of Commander Buryl and Nelwyn Kay, McLean, VA; items from the collection of Robert Rob Hunter, Williamsburg, VA; plus others. Sale categories consist of country furniture & accessories; folk and outsider art; rare advertising and country store material; Breweriana; political Americana; Native American; Civil War & other militaria: dolls & toys; Staffordshire transferware and other ceramics; lot of silver; art pottery; plus more.
