ST. MORITZ.- NOMAD, the first travelling showcase for collectible design and contemporary art, returns to the Swiss Alps for a third winter edition. Staged inside a 16th-century alpine mansion, Chesa Planta, NOMAD St. Moritz will bring together a selection of galleries, artists and designers from around the world from 6th to 9th February 2020 to present contemporary, limited-edition works and rare, 20th-century collectors’ objects.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Chesa Planta and its surroundings, participating galleries will present small-scale exhibitions or site-specific installations inspired by their temporary home in the Alps, while others will draw influences from distinctive design identities from around the world, including Brazil, Japan, Nordic territories and the Middle East, among others.

Debut works from some of today’s most exciting names in contemporary design and art will coexist with traditional Swiss craftsmanship and 20th-century pieces, many being exhibited for the first time in a mountain setting, including iconic works by Franco Albini and Gio Ponti. The 2020 edition will place greater emphasis on the incredible location and nature, with works by artists and makers including Carsten Holler to be installed outside, against the dramatic Alpine scenery.

‘For our next winter edition, we expect to see a greater sense of discovery, a myriad of influences and experimental ideas, with more installations and solo works exhibited outdoors, as well as intriguing ways of showing familiar works. Dialogue and theatre are some of the themes we are already starting to see, as well as influences from different cultures you wouldn’t expect in this corner of Europe’. – Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte and Giorgio Pace, NOMAD Founders.

Participating galleries in the next edition include Angela Weber Möbel (Zurich); Athr Gallery (Jeddah); Carwan Gallery (Athens); Etage Projects (Copenhagen); Erik Thomsen Gallery (New York); Galerie Andrea Caratsch (St. Moritz); Galleri Format (Oslo); Galleria Luisa Delle Piane (Milan); Galleria Rossella Colombari (Milan); Giustini Stagetti (Rome); Heritage (Moscow); Magazzino (Rome); Maniera (Brussels); Massimo de Carlo (Hong Kong, London, Milan); Mercado Moderno (Rio de Janeiro); Musegallery (Monaco); Officine Saffi (Milan).

The event will also feature a series of Special Projects presented by Au Depart Paris and Mazzoleni Arte; Draga&Aurel; Eliane Fattal; Established & Sons; Fabio Salini; Fornasetti; Georg Hornemann; Iwan Maktabi; Ramon Zangger Möbelwerkstatt; The Invisible Collection; Volumnia + Davide Groppi.

NOMAD St. Moritz 2020 follows two winter editions held at Chesa Planta (2019 and 2018); Venice, at Palazzo Sorano Van Axel (summer 2019); and Monaco, in the spectacular clifftop residence, La Vigie (spring 2018 and 2017).
