SHANGHAI, CHINA.- French Impressionist Masterpieces Exhibition opens in Shanghai Art Museum. The month-long exhibition for the fifty one masterpieces including Edouard Manet, Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, Auguste Renoir and Edgar Degas, will start 08 December after its Beijing's tour.
The exhibition is titled "Tresors Impressionnistes de Collections Nationales Francaises," and is the most expensive exhibition that the Shanghai Art Museum has ever had. Most of the paintings, 38, come from the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. The exhibition is part of the Year of France in China. In Beijing the exhibition attracted more than 300,000 visitors in six weeks.
Xiao Xiaolan, the museum's curator in charge of the exhibitio, stated, "We will limit the number of people entering the museum during the week-end and may also extend the opening hours for the exhibition."
Marianne Mathieu from the Musee d'Orsay stated, "This exhibition will guide visitors through the development of Impressionism across different periods of time."
