WOLVERHAMPTON, UNITED KINGDOM.- Snowy Landscape with Wreckage by critically acclaimed artist David Burrows, is the exciting new acquisition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, which will be making its debut exhibition in the Gallery from 25 September. This huge installation is a bright, colourful and foam formed piece that has something deeper going on - the scene of a disaster in the snow.
David Burrows is an important and exciting contemporary artist who has achieved great critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. He also happens to be working in, amongst other things, the infrequently used medium of foam.
Snowy Landscape with Wreckage is a provocative piece playing on and against the viewer's initial impression of the work as a light-hearted installation. It soon becomes clear that something else has happened here. Bits of clothing and shoes, torn and shredded, come into view and there are pools of blood too! This installation looks at Burrows' fascination with trauma, real and imagined and its representation through art.
Snowy Landscape with Wreckage is on show at Wolverhampton Art Gallery until 31 December, Monday - Saturday 10am-5pm and entry is free.
