The Museum of New Art (MONA) is pleased to present NONE OF THE ABOVE, curated and designed by Cesar Marzetti, which will eschew the work of over forty international artists. Each work in the exhibition will be extremely immaterial and will not be installed over the full space of the MONA and in non-existent spots: visibly absent in such a way that this exhibition device, its strategy, will play a substantially covert part of the event, clearing the exhibition rooms to an empty look. The artists have neither been formally invited nor informed about the rough curatorial handling of their pieces, and many, having been witless guests to Marzetti's projects before, are unaware of these procedures.



Artworks of various media will not be presented, either in their authors' usual manner, or as specific projects conceived and adapted for the show. Display strategies, snare shows, deception events, and exhibitions as exhibits have a long tradition, the lineage going back to the Suprematists, Dada and the Surrealists to Fluxus or the seminal Lucy Lippard shows, and many such concerns are activated by today’s generation of artists and curators. In this spirit, Cesar Marzetti has conceived "None of the Above", where the absence of Richard Artschwager's "Blp" is an empty hommage to that history, as well as to the artist who introduced one of the most emblematic pieces in that genre. In the spirit of Marzetti's project, the museum will close its doors for the duration of the exhibition dates.

Cesar Marzetti, since his time at the Fluxus-connected Escargot (1971-1980) has initiated many events lacking similar flavor, and some of these projects will not be presented during the exhibition, such as The Big Huge and kaBOOM
