6 Famous Creators of Weed Art Whose Passion for Bud Fueled Their Brilliance

Weed can make a person feel more creative, which can lead to more unique works of art. And in some cases, the cannabis itself becomes the focus of the art.

There are some budding artists that have made a name for themselves in the niche. In fact, some of these artists are rolling in fame after revealing their masterpieces to the public.

Here are 6 famous creators of weed art you should know:

1. Fred Tomaselli
Fred is a contemporary painter that has made a name for himself for suspending interesting objects inside his resin-coated creations (including butterflies.) But perhaps one of his most well-known works was from 1994 when he created Super Plant, which is an eye-catching piece with a psychedelic flavor.

2. Chris Burden
He was known for his unconventional performance art, that sometimes put him in danger. In fact, he was even shot once as a performance stunt.

But Chris was also a fan of marijuana art and took a risk with Coals to Newcastle performed in 1978. This involved "smuggling" two joints inside model airplanes from California to Mexico. Luckily it didn't all go up in smoke.

3. Ricardo Cortés
This artist and illustrator has made a name for himself for his slightly off-beat children's books. One of them called Go The F**k To Sleep, topped the New York Times bestseller list.

But he also created a weed-inspired children's book called It’s Just a Plant has also made waves in the industry. It is designed as a way for parents to teach their kids about pot.

4. Vincent Gordon
Vincent is an artist that's not shy about his stance on marijuana. He actually got the flak for some weed-themed propaganda pieces he created.

His usual cartoon-style work is unique in style with a sense of psychedelic flair. He also has got the attention of some celebrities, including Snoop Dogg, who Vincent has created work for.

5. Alexandra Caprice
Not all weed artists started creating marijuana-themed art decades ago. Take for example Alexandra Caprice, who has created a large following on her Instagram account with her weed-themed work showing women smoking up. It's also apparent from her account that she's a fan of longboarding.

6. SheSmokesJoints
Known for the time being only as Courtney, this is another newer weed artist that is blazing a trail in the cannabis art world. In fact, she has more than 280,000 followers already on Instagram. It's not clear which products she likes to use herself, but browsing her account might give you some clues.

But what is clear is that she uses cannabis extract as her medium to create some interesting "sculptures." It's part of a dab art movement that's gaining ground.

Weed Art is Reaching New Highs
To the veteran artists using weed in their work to the more contemporary artists bringing their vision to the electronic masses, it's hard to deny the influence of marijuana in the art world.
