WICHITA, KANSAS.- "Wichita Arch," made of 31 blocks of Kansas limestone weighing around 62,000 pounds, has been completed. Andy Goldsworthy arrived that day to put some finishing touches on the sculpture and to complete the final part of the installation process--Goldsworthy planted a Siberian elm underneath the sculpture. His hope was for visitors to follow the growth of the tree from year to year and to wonder if the tree was passing through the sculpture or if the sculpture was passing through the tree. "Wichita Arch" is located off of 17th Street and Fairmount Ave south of Wilner Auditorium.
