ITHACA, N.Y.- The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University presents Fa鏰de Projection: Asta Gr鰐ing's Parking, through November 4. Parking by German artist Asta Gr鰐ing, the fourth in the Museum抯 series of fa鏰de projections, represents her first museum show in the United States. Trained as a sculptor, Gr鰐ing turned to film in the early 1990s to escape the limitations of sculptural materials. Best known for her ongoing series of films of ventriloquists, Gr鰐ing is interested in fundamental psychological concepts. In the short, humorous Parking, she choreographs a number of cars fighting over the same parking spot. The viewer is afforded a view from above on how different psychologies play themselves out in this model world, recognizing him- or herself in the different drivers.
