Every year the Robertson family went on a family road trip. It was a highlight of the year for everyone, a time to reconnect and spend quality time together while also enjoying a fun and exciting vacation. Beth and Jeremy planned the trips in advance, always open to suggestions from their three kids about where they should visit that year.
Jeremy and I started going one road trips together during the summer even before we were married. When Nathan, our oldest, was born, we debated giving up the tradition, but Im so glad we decided to continue, Beth explained. It was different, of course, especially with little kids, but so much more meaningful because of that.
Its always been a road trip that weve gone on, somewhere in the United States, said Jeremy. Usually when we discussed the vacation, one of the kids would bring up a foreign city or country, but we never actually made it happen. As the kids got older though, we began to consider it more.
So, the year when Nathan graduated from high school, Beth and Jeremy had a big surprise for the family. They would be getting their passports and traveling to London for their summer vacation. To commemorate the occasion, Beth looked for
photography vacation packages so they would have professional photographs to remember their trip.
From the very beginning, their experience in London was extraordinary. Beth and Jeremy hadnt left the States since before they were married, and for all the kids it was the first time being in a new country. They made sure to hit all the top tourist spots, such as the Eye of London, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben.
For the photographs, I decided to hire a photographer from sLocalgrapher, said Beth. Jeremy and I both agreed that it would be better if we had a local to do the photo shoot since they would have a feel for the city. We all came as strangers, and to really capture the best of London we wanted someone who knew their way around.
The photographer recommended that they do the photo shoot on the banks of the Thames River. The iconic and famous river had views of many of the primary attractions of the city that would give character to the familys
photo shoot in London. They decided to do the photo shoot at mid-day to give the pictures a cheerful and bright tone.
I was totally shocked when mom and dad said we were going to London, said Nathan. Of course, I was excited for the summer vacation anyway, because it might be my last since I would be going to college in a different state the next year and might not make it back home for the summer. And Im really glad they decided to hire a photographer because now I have photos I can keep with me to remember the trip. Mom and dad arent very good photographers themselves, so we dont have many pictures from the other trips we took.
The entire experience was a good one for the family. Coming to London was a fun way to continue the tradition of a family summer vacation while also adding a new twist. Beth and Jeremy were happy to be spending quality time with their children, while also have the experience of finally traveling to a foreign city.
