MONACO.- On January 21st 2019,
Artcurial will host its fourth Winter Session including Jewellery, Important Watches and Hermès Vintage lots which will be auctioned from 23rd to 25th January, at the Yacht Club in Monaco.
Leaders in the Principality (+ 30% in January 2018 compared to the 2017 edition), Artcurial maintains its ambition to help Monaco achieve the position of unchallenged international capital for luxury auctions. Each session is the opportunity to discover unparalleled lots gathered by the 3 departments, in order to satisfy the ever-growing number of Monegasque and international clients.
Julie Valade, Director of the Jewellery department will launch the auction week on 23rd January at 3pm, followed by the 24th at 7pm with a magnificent selection spanning the centuries. The creations on display will range from the Victorian era - an incredible shaped-gold necklace set with sapphires (estimate: 80,000 - 100,000) - to today with pieces by Cartier, Lorenz Bäumer, Christian Dior, Boucheron... Two diamond Art-Deco bracelets by Lacloche, one of which carries an estimate of between 25,000 and 35,000, and a magnificent gold and Lapis Lazuli pendant signed Van Cleef and Arpels from the 1970s (estimate: 15 000 - 20 000) all deserve particular attention.
Following the success of the first two editions, Artcurial continues its effective streak with Le Temps est Féminin, dedicated to ladies timepieces. The memory still lingers of the heated battle of bids during the dispersion of the Gaël and Robert Schwartz private Piaget collection or the dizzying price obtained by the Bulgari Serpenti Black Mamba reaching 430,600 / $449,496 last July - the highest result to date achieved by the Important Watches Department since its creation.
This season, Marie Sanna-Legrand, Director of the Important Watches Department yet again proves her ability to embark us on magical voyages with an extremely rare Van Cleef & Arpels clock from around 1927, or an 18k yellow gold, black enamel, diamonds and ruby numbered Serpenti signed Bulgari, estimate 100,000 - 150,000 for Le Temps est Féminin on 24th January at 3pm. The Important Watches auction, held on 23rd January at 7pm will include an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak PS ref. 25820SP from 2006 (estimate: 22,000 - 30,000) and a Radiomir ref. 6152 by Panerai from 1950, once belonging to Amadeo Vesco, former MAS commando (estimate: 80,000 - 120,000).
In closing, the Hermès Vintage department, led by Pénélope Blanckaert, will bring these 3 days of auction to a close, demonstrating yet again the extraordinary range of expertise and creativity demonstrated by the venerable House by representing original versions of the Birkin, Kelly, Constance bags and Kelly clutches in valuable and particularly rare skins.
