LONDON.- Graphical work and artistic design are probably the most unused words when people discuss their favourite game. Whether it be a mobile game, console game or online game, the game play and scores seem to take precedent over the design.
The Research Overview
Research also undertaken by the team at
Reel Vegas and
Chomp Casino found that the most basic of games are sometimes the most popular. The findings highlighted that easy to play games offer a higher level of enjoyment by the majority of people. It is probable that this is due to the ease of use element, however sometimes the brain enjoys repetitive tasks of a similar nature.
Games in general have developed hugely in the past 66 years, with the introduction of multiple play, virtual reality and of course improved sound, graphics and game play. The artistic elements of daily life are often implemented into new games, with brands, historic landmarks and sporting heroes all added into the scenery and game play.
The History of Video Games
Way back in 1952 a student studying for his PhD, created the first video / computer game. It was a simple but yet effective game, known as "Noughts and Crosses". His name was Alexander Douglas and he aptly named the game "OXO". The graphical and artistic requirements were very minimal, however still required a vast array of space for the computer system.

In fact it was reported that over 200 square feet was used in a Laboratory in Cambridge University, running on EDSAC, which stands for Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Calculator.
Whilst we have not seen a Van Gogh painting in a Call Of Duty game, It probably won't be too long until we do. Other Artistic games such as Art In Motion for the PS4 have proved to be very successful, with the power to paint stunning landscapes as well as creating unique creatures. The Wow factor is that this game also brings the artists pictures to Life, which is a powerful tool indeed.
It is quite surprising to find games with very basic old school graphics such as Mind Craft have over 55 Million monthly users, with a massive 122 Million copies of the game being sold to date. This highlights that basic games can do well, although it is acknowledged that this game is more complex to play than most.
