Sothebys Fine Jewels Sale on 20 September. Drawing on the rich golden hues and seasonal motifs of autumn, the sale offers a spectacular range of on-season jewels with an eclectic mix of pieces from the Edwardian and Art Deco periods. GRIMA
Adventurous and innovative in style, Andrew Grimas unique and eye-catching designs have won him prestigious commissions and numerous international awards. Grimas international profile had grown throughout the 1960s and in 1969 he was commissioned by Omega to create a collection of watches to be exhibited around the world. The resulting collection titled About Time was launched in London in 1970 and consisted of 85 striking watches set with a gemstone.
This Opal and Diamond Watch Pendant (estimate £7,0009,000) (Lot 137) exemplifies Grimas bold and visionary approach. A manual winding watch it has a plain dial and tapered hands behind a pear-shaped opal cabochon, surrounded by collet-set triangular brilliantcut diamond.
