LONDON.- Sothebys three-part series, presented by C.W. Sellors Fine Jewellery and produced by Chrome Productions, goes behind-the-scenes of the acclaimed exhibition House Style and provides unique access to the making of this extraordinary journey through five centuries of fashion at Chatsworth. Curated by Hamish Bowles, International Editor-at-Large at American Vogue, and Lady Laura Burlington, with creative direction and design by Patrick Kinmonth and Antonio Monfreda, the landmark exhibition spans 24 rooms in the house and layers art history fashion, jewellery & design, bringing to life the captivating individuals from 16 generations of the Cavendish family. The recreation of some of the exquisite jewellery pieces for the exhibition by C.W. Sellors Fine Jewellery also features in the series.
Sothebys specialists join the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Lady Laura Burlington, supermodel Stella Tennant and Hamish Bowles in a three-part series that goes to the heart of this outstanding exhibition that has already captivated thousands of visitors. With exclusive interviews, commentary and a walkthrough of the entire exhibition and its contents, the series offers personal insights and commentary on the individual fashion tastes and eclectic wardrobes of some of Chatsworths best-known inhabitants and their glamorous guests. From grand coronation robes to rebel pieces by Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, the series shines a spotlight on the characters that have brought the finest examples of avant-garde fashion and haute couture to life over the years, exploring the extreme contrasts that style permits.
Tasked with bringing the familys glittering past back to life, specialist luxury jewellery retailer and manufacturer, C.W. Sellors Fine Jewellery has recreated some of the most exquisite jewellery pieces from the familys dazzling history- most notably the lost headdress worn by Duchess Louise at the Devonshire House Ball in 1897, replica diamond tiaras worn at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and a swarm of insect jewels inspired by Duchess Deborahs famous insect collection. These are just a few of the exquisite designs on view, which have decorated generations of the Cavendish family.
I have very much enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm and wonder that this exhibition has elicited from visitors to Chatsworth. To have the exhibition brought to life in a video series such as this, affords those who have not yet visited a glimpse of the breadth and diversity of the exhibition, as well as insight in to the passion of those brilliant people who conceived and delivered it. - The Duke of Devonshire
