LOS ANGELES, CA.- Phillips announced a charity auction in Los Angeles to benefit Elephant Action League’s trailblazing efforts to save the rhinos. A selection of works by world-renowned photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen will be offered, with 100% of the proceeds to fund groundbreaking conservation initiatives. The auction will take place on Thursday, 1 June, at The Montage in Beverly Hills and will include special guest speakers Andrea Crosta (featured in the Netflix's documentary The Ivory Game), Jamie Joseph (Founder of Saving the Wild, a groundbreaking NGO working to eradicate wildlife poaching), and photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen, as well as famed Hollywood manager Joanne Horowitz, who is serving on the event’s host committee. Fifteen lots, including twelve unreleased images from Mangelsen’s Africa 2017 series with a limited edition print run of 5, will be on offer for photograph connoisseurs and wildlife supporters alike.

Blake Koh, Phillips’ Regional Director, Los Angeles, said, “Phillips is honored to work with Elephant Action League in their important efforts to advocate for wildlife conservation across the globe. We are confident that photographer Tom Mangelsen’s commitment and generous contribution to the auction will help bring additional awareness and resources to this important cause.”

Gilda Moratti, Co-Founder and Board Member of the Elephant Action League, said, “With only 25,000 rhinos left on the entire African continent amid an unprecedented poaching and trafficking crisis, time is of the essence and we are eager to put the funds raised through this auction to good use.” Andrea Crosta, Executive Director and Co-Founder, added, “We are grateful for all of the support EAL has received, along with Jamie Joseph’s tireless and brave campaign in making such important strides in our shared goal. Phillips’ sale will provide immeasurable help in anti-poaching operations, as well as international investigative activities targeting traffickers and wildlife criminal networks.”

Legendary nature photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen has traveled throughout the natural world for over 40 years observing and photographing the Earth’s last great wild places. From polar bears in the Arctic to vast herds of game across African savannahs, from the deep jungles of South America to the elusive tigers of India, from dreamscape vistas to images revealing the diversity of the American West, Mangelsen has captured rare moments and vast panoramas from all seven continents.

Critically acclaimed, Mangelsen’s honors include being named Conservation Photographer of the Year by Nature’s Best Photography, the BBC’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the Outstanding Nature Photographer of the Year by North American Nature Photography Association, one of the 100 Most Important People in Photography by American Photo magazine, and one of the 40 Most Influential Nature Photographers by Outdoor Photography. His award winning photographs have been exhibited in major museums, including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History, and collected by thousands around the world through his MANGELSEN®—Images of Nature Galleries.
