Celebrated silversmith Paul Storr wine coolers top Fine Silver and Vertu Auction
A Pair of Georg Jensen Silver Five-Light Candelabra, designed by Johan Rohde, Copenhagen, circa 1945-1977 sold for $23,750.



DALLAS, TX.- More than 450 silver and vertu lots crossed the auction block April 20 during Heritage Auctions' Fine Silver and Vertu auction in Dallas. Interest and final prices realized were competitive with a strong 91 percent sell-through rate. Top lot honors went to a fine Pair of Paul Storr Silver-Gilt Wine Coolers for Rundell, Bridge & Rundell, which featured multiple bidders and finally realized $62,500 – well above pre-auction estimates.

Two other iconic names in the silver trade showed strong interest as A Pair of Georg Jensen Silver Five-Light Candelabra, designed by Johan Rohde, Copenhagen, circa 1945-1977 and a Rare 48 Piece Tiffany & Co. William K. Vanderbilt Pattern Flatware Service, New York, New York, circa 1885, each sold for $23,750.

An impressive Silver Philadelphia Yacht Club Nautical Presentation Punch Bowl and Ladle, attributed to Dominick & Haff, New York, circa 1904 sold for $12,500, joining a late 19th-century Viennese Gilt Silver, Enamel and Rock Crystal Tray in the manner of Hermann Bohm, which realized $10,625 as another pair of strong performers.

Two beautiful vases exceeded expectations when a John Samuel Hunt Neoclassical Victorian Silver Two-Handled Vase, London, 1863, sold for $10,312.50 and an exquisite Tiffany & Co. Japanesque Silver and Mixed Metal Bottle Neck Vase, New York, circa 1878, sold for $9,375.

A pair of William Leuchars Victorian Silver and Etched Glass Canary Scent Bottles, London, 1882, sold for $8,750 with multiple bidders vying for these meticulously etched pieces.

Rounding out the top 10 performers were a trio of silver beverage dispensers from around the world. A fine Robert Hennell II George IV Silver Chinoiserie Teapot on Stand, London, 1829, sold for $8,125 while a rare Bell & Brothers Coin Silver Mug, San Antonio, Texas, circa 1865 sold for $7,500 and a Gorham Silver Pitcher with Shell, Crab, and Oceanic Motifs, Providence, Rhode Island, 1884 sold for $6,562.50.

Additional highlights include:

· A five-piece Baltimore Silversmith's Mfg. Co. Silver Repoussé Landscape Tea and Coffee Service: Realized: $8,750

· A Hector Aguilar Mexican Silver, Brass and Amethyst Necklace: Realized: $6,250

· A two-piece Fred Davis Mexican Silver and Turquoise Jewelry Suite: Reailzed: $5,750

· A Matilde Poulat Mexican Silver and Hardstone Necklace: Realized: $5,750

· An American (Baltimore Region) Coin Silver Landscape Ewer: Realized: $3,750
