NEW YORK, NY.- The Outsider Art Fair, the singular fair dedicated to Art Brut, Folk and Outsider Art, is pleased to announce its exhibitors for the 25th Anniversary Edition, which will run from January 19-22 at The Metropolitan Pavilion in New York. The fair will showcase 60 galleries, representing 29 cities from 9 countries, with 8 first-time exhibitors.
On the heels of a strong 4th year of OAF Paris, which shined a light on historical Art Brut, the 25th edition of the New York fair will celebrate the diverse nationalities and backgrounds of its presented artists, from Macaulay & Co’s roster of First Nation artists to the Japanese creators at Yukiko Koide Presents; tribal art from India at Hervé Perdriolle, and Rebecca Hossack’s display of Aboriginal art. New York’s Cuban Art Center will make its OAF debut and Mariposa Unusual Art will be returning with a dazzling array of Brazilian ex-votos. Haitian experts Bourbon Lally will be making their 22nd appearance at OAF and the renowned Galerie Gugging from Austria will be exhibiting for the first time since 2007.
Since Wide Open Arts acquired the fair in 2012, there was has been a marked presence of Contemporary Art dealers which this year includes Jack Hanley, Nicelle Beauchene, Catinca Tabacaru, Kent Fine Art (all from New York), Carl Solway (Cincinnati) and Western Exhibitions (Chicago). It is also worth noting that 9 exhibitors from the first Outsider Art Fair in 1993 will be on hand: American Primitive (New York), Ricco Maresca (New York), Luise Ross (New York), Cavin Morris (New York), Carl Hammer (Chicago), Marion Harris (New York), Fleisher / Ollman (Philadelphia), Henry Boxer (London), and Gilley's Gallery (Baton Rouge, LA).
Wide Open Arts acknowledges the unusual circumstances of the upcoming inauguration and its concurrence with this year’s fair. “As always, the Outsider Art Fair will embody the vigorous spirit and commitment that has made it a standout since 1993.
