DALLAS, TX.- A decorator's dream and a collector's cache of more than 1,100 lots cross the block in Heritage Auctions' triannual Fine & Decorative Arts, Including Estates, event Sept. 17-18 in Dallas. The two-day auction spans furniture, American and European art, glass and Asian art — including a large, Chinese Carved Coral Group (est. $30,000-$50,000).

The Carved Coral depicts the Eight Immortals rising forth from a boat, backed by a fan and coral-form frame. This group is likely related to the mythical story of the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, which detailed the Immortals' exploration and discovery of underwater realms, popularized in E.T. Werner's 1922 volume, Myths and Legends of China.

At nearly 20-inches high, the impressive work highlights an extraordinary collection of Asian artworks, including a 36-inch high Chinese Carved Jadeite Figural Urn and Lid on Stand, 19th century (est. $20,000-$30,000), a Chinese Carved White Jade Group with Stand titled Phoenix and Peony Tree (est. $20,000-$30,000), as well as an impressive Chinese Carved Carnelian Lidded Urn with Stand (est. $15,000-$20,000). A Chinese Openwork Carved Jade Aquatic Group depicts fish swimming through openwork coral (est. $10,000-$15,000).

Of particular interest to Japanese cloisonné collectors is a Fine Japanese Cloisonné Enamel Jar and Cover (est. $4,000-$6,000). The Meiji Period covered jar was made by Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927), whose work was widely acclaimed in Japan, earning him an appointment as an Imperial Household artist to the Japanese emperor. The gilt copper jar features complex wirework depicting a three-toed dragon, pheasant, butterflies, chrysanthemums, and floral motifs.

Fine French furniture ranges from a circa 19th century Baroque Revival Oak Center Table with Grand Tour Micro Mosaic Top (est. $40,000-$60,000) to a Louis XV-Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Kingwood Center Table with Marble Top (est. $12,000-$18,000). A Jacob Frères Empire Mahogany and Gilt Bronze Mounted Secretary Bookcase (est. $10,000-$15,000), circa 1800, and a stunning Maison Forest Louis XVI-Style Mahogany, Kingwood and Gilt Bronze-Mounted Case Clock, circa 1890 (est. $7,000-$10,000) both from Paris.

Signed French furniture includes a Christian Krass Louis XV-Style Parquetry Bureau a Cylindre, Lyon, France, circa 1900, intricately embellished with diamond-shaped parquetry inset with floral bouquets (est. $5,000-$7,000). A Paul Sormani Louis XV-Style Mahogany and Kingwood Parquetry and Gilt Bronze Mounted Table Ambulante, typifies the high-quality furniture produced by the 19th century Parisian cabinetmaker Sormani. The table is inlaid with mahogany and kingwood hexahedron parquetry, and is trimmed in fine gilt mounts to the edges, leg shoulders, and feet (est. $700-$1,000).

A Dallas collection revealed an exquisite collection of Wedgwood that spans three centuries from a late 18th century Egyptian Revival piece Sphinx, to, Wedgwood "Fairyland" bowls (est. $4,000-$6,000) and vases (est. $3,500-$5,000), and mid-century examples by noted architect and designer Keith Murray.
