HONG KONG.- Sothebys Hong Kong Autumn Sales 2016 will take place from 1 to 5 October at Hall 3, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Exceptional objects encompassing Chinese Works of Art, Fine Chinese Paintings, Classical Chinese Paintings, Contemporary Ink Art, Modern Asian Art, Contemporary Asian Art, Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, Jewellery, Watches and Wines will be offered over the course of five action-packed days.
Selected highlights will be showcased in travelling exhibitions in Jakarta (26 28 August), Singapore (10 11 September), Seoul (21 22 September) and Taipei (24 25 September), followed by a public exhibition of all properties on offer at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 30 September to 4 October.

The Classic Cellar II Featuring Château Pétrus (1 October)
This important single-owner sale will take place on the first day of Sothebys autumn auction season with 430 lots, estimated at HK$19 26 million / US$2.4 3.3 million*. Highlight is a magnificent collection of Château Pétrus 99 lots from 11 vintages between 1998 and 2012. The wines in this collection have impeccable provenance, having been bought En Primeur and stored under ideal conditions.
A Unique Crystal Magnum Decanter of Special Louis XIII Cognac Asia Edition (1 October)
LOUIS XIII has collaborated with French luxury houses Hermès, Puiforcat and Saint-Louis to create a masterpiece they are calling LODYSSÉE DUN ROI (JOURNEY OF A KING), which will be offered in a special one-lot sale in Hong Kong. At the heart of this unique auction is an exclusive blend of LOUIS XIII Cognac, specially crafted by Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau. The blend comes in a custom Saint-Louis decanter etched with 19th-century maps of Asia, and is beautifully displayed in a bespoke coffret by Hermès.

Chinese Art through the Eye of Sakamoto Gorō Early Buddhist Bronzes
The 22 bronze votive figures in this outstanding collection, assembled over the past 60 years by the legendary Japanese dealer Sakamoto Gorō, are not only of sublime beauty, but also of great importance in documenting the transmission of Buddhism into China from the 4th century onwards. Revered and treasured in Japan, this carefully preserved group includes several with documentary inscriptions, including the famous large gilt-bronze figure of Padmapani from the Northern Wei Dynasty, dated to 470, extensively exhibited and published in Japan since 1960.
