HONG KONG.- The influence of technology in art appreciation is ever-changing. With the advance in technology and gear of virtual reality, 2016 has been regarded as “The Year of Virtual Reality”, according to different critics. As a pioneer in Hong Kong art scene, K11 presents its latest exhibition Electronic Vibes in May, inviting international and local artists to explore electronic art in various forms, and combing art and virtual reality to create an exciting art experience. Highlights include a virtual Art Jamming experience by using the long-waited HTC Vive, Re: FUSE exhibition series in chi K11 art space, the largest interactive art installation in Hong Kong “People on the Fly”, and visual music project “Five” (2016) in the K11 Showcases, etc, allowing the general public and art lovers to fully indulge themselves with the pleasure of virtual reality and electronic art.

K11 x HTC Vive - Ground-breaking Art Jamming Experience
HTC Vive is the latest VR gear released by HTC which has attracted worldwide attention. This is K11’s first collaboration with HTC to present a ground-breaking virtual reality art jamming experience with HTC Vive. Participants are invited to put on the VR device, which includes a headset and two controllers, to create their unique 3D art pieces inside the space of virtual reality. Valèry Grancher, a prestigious multi-disciplinary artist, will conduct a live performance to demonstrate an innovative combination of technology and art creation.

A VR Experience Zone, designed by the famous Hong Kong architect Betty Ng, is also located in the K11 Atrium to present an illusionary space for the participants to experience the charm of virtual reality.

K11 Piazza - Two Large-scale Interactive Media Art Installations
Collaborating with the 5th Large Scale Public Media Arts Exhibition Human Vibrations, which is presented by HKADC and curated by French-based contemporary curator Caroline Ha Thuc, K11 showcases 2 large-scale interactive media art installations in the Piazza.

Re: FUSE – Exploring electronic art in different art forms
Curated by Hong Kong curator TSAO Yidi, the exhibition series of Re: FUSE will present the exhibits created by 5 artists, who participated in the ISEA2016 artist residents’ programme, during their residency in the K11 art village in Wuhan. These exhibits are in different art forms and reveal the artists’ various observations and thoughts about society, technology, city, nature and memory.

Other highlights
As part of the Electronic Vibes exhibition, K11 DESIGN STORE and JetOne Motion collaborate for the first time to offer aviation training by providing flight simulation device at K11 DESIGN STORE. JetOne Motion has collaborated with an aviation training school in Australia where students receive prior training at JetOne Motion. K11 DESIGN STORE will be the only other location in the Kowloon district that offers this training. Meanwhile, public will also have the chance to try different VR gadgets, such as Oculus Rift, and the most advanced car racing or flight simulator.

K11 will continue to provide programs and services for kids, including kids art journey, seven creative workshops, and book corner offering books on electronic arts, providing wider opportunity for kids to learn about electronic arts and technology and to open their eyes of opportunities in electrical engineering and scientific exploration.
