NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips announced the introduction of its first-ever mobile live bidding and live streaming video platform for its iOS App. The new mobile offering enables buyers to watch and bid in our international sales from anywhere in the world from their iPhone or iPad, using cutting-edge WebRTC technology.

This is a significant new offering that extends Phillips’ proprietary desktop live bidding product – or ‘digital saleroom’ – that was launched last season. It strengthens Phillips’ competitive advantage by offering a mobile-optimized bidding channel not available at other auction houses.

The enhanced Phillips iOS App allows users to browse auctions, track preferred lots and follow their favorite artists. Now, registered bidders can stream our live auctions and ‘swipe to bid’ from their iOS device. The new technology will be available for the first time at Phillips’ New Now sale on September 17 in New York.

“Collectors are increasingly engaging with the art world online, particularly on their mobile devices. Mobile live bidding is a natural extension of the live auction experience and it puts us right where are clients are,” says Megan Newcome, Director of Digital Strategy. “This initiative is one more step in establishing Phillips as an international leader in auctions and innovation.”
