MEXICO CITY.- Without any doubt, one of the most important exercises to preserve, enlarge and among everything, value the artistic heritage of any culture is the donation of art pieces.
Thanks to the management leaded by Dr. Agustín Arteaga and MA. María Estela Duarte, the
Museo Nacional de Arte announced that it received twelve artistic pieces from the Fundación Zúñiga Laborde A.C. This collection is composed by three sculptures, six paintings, two litographies, and a drawing. The outstanding Mexican artists active in the XX century and authors of these pieces are Francisco Zúñiga, Juan Cruz Reyes, José L. Ruíz, Francisco Gutiérrez, Manuel Rodríguez Lozano, Emilio Amero, Roberto Montenegro and Ramón Alva de la Canal.
In order to incorporate the donation, the Museo Nacional de Arte will exhibit these pieces as a set and they will be available for appreciation in the Sala Monotemática located in the second floor.
The donation requires a continuous work of promotion, and with this exhibition, the Museo Nacional de Arte recognizes the Fundación Zúñiga Laborde A.C. publicly for its sensitivity to preserve and donate this goods to the Mexican heritage.
Alongside this exhibition, there will be a collectible publication that aims to accompany the presentation of each of the donations made to the Museo Nacional de Arte as a testimony of this generous process that enriches the collection. This first, bilingual notebook, titled Donaciones y Adquisiciones. Museo Nacional de Arte, 2014-2015, includes 12 plates with commented cards for each of the donated pieces, besides texts from Paulina Bravo Villareal, curatorial chief, Ma. Estela Duarte Sánchez, in charge of collection links and Adriana Patiño Guadarrama, curator of the XX century art collection and of this exhibition.
