HONG KONG.- Sotheby’sHong Kong Autumn Sales 2015 will take place from 3 to 7 October at Hall 3, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Exceptional objects encompassing Chinese Works of Art, Fine Classical Chinese Paintings, Fine Chinese Paintings, Contemporary Ink Art, Modern Asian Art, Contemporary Asian Art, Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, Jewellery, Watches and Wines will be offered.

Selected highlights will be showcased in travelling exhibitions in Jakarta (28 – 30 August), Shanghai (3 – 4 September), Beijing (6 – 7 September), Singapore (12 – 13 September), Taipei (19 – 20 September), followed by a public exhibition of all properties on offer at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 2 to 6 October.

The Classic Cellar
From A Prestigious Collection (3 October)
This important single-owner sale kicks off Sotheby’s autumn sale series with over 10,000 bottles in 800 lots, estimated at HK$25 - 34 million / US$3.2 - 4.3 million*. The wines in this collection boast impeccable provenance, having been bought En Primeur and stored under ideal conditions. The sale includes outstanding Burgundy, with 300 bottles (over 80 lots) of DRC, as well as other highly sought-after producers such as Armand Rousseau, Méo-Camuzet and Leflaive. The Bordeaux features all the First Growths, Super Seconds, in addition to the other top classified growths, St- Émilions and Pomérols.

The Contemporary Cellar
From Impeccable Storage at Octavian (3 October)
This single-owner evening sale features a selection of the most popular Domaines in Burgundy. Over 400 lots totaling HK$11 - 16 million / US$1.4 - 2 million will be offered, including over 1,700 bottles of Burgundy in multiple formats, highlighted by over 200 lots from DRC, Rousseau, Leroy, Cathiard, Dujac and de Vogüé. In addition, there are 600 bottles of Champagne from Dom Pérignon, Krug, Louis Roederer and Jacques Selosse; as well as a rare vertical of Vega Sicilia Unico in magnums from 1960 to 2004.

This sale features Harlan Estate and BOND direct from the winery, with a super rare vertical lot of 21 bottles of Harlan Estate (1990-2010). The Bordeaux selection features left bank classed growth from the 1980s to 2010, with parcel lots available from the greatest vintages: 1982, 1990, 1995, 1996 and 2000.

Modern and Contemporary Asian Art evening Sale, 4th of October
This auction presents a series of monumental works of Modern and Contemporary Asian art, highlighted by works by Chen Cheng-Po, T’ing Yin-Yung, Hendra Gunawan and Miguel Covarrubias. Among the stellar array of works, Ai Weiwei’s Forever Bicycles is set to attract international attention with its auction debut this fall, alongside large-scale paintings by Liu Ye and Gutai artist Shiraga Kazuo.

Modern Asian Art day sale, 5th October
The Modern Asian Art Day Sale features T’ing Yin-Yung as the cover lot. Two special series, entitled ‘National School of Art’ and ‘Central Academy of Craft Art’, will be presented, illustrating the trajectory of Modern Chinese art. Highlights of the sale also include important works by Lalan, Chen Yifei, Hsiao Chin and T’ang Haywen.

Full Circle – Yoshihara Jiro Collection, 5th of October
Full Circle – Yoshihara Jiro Collection is the first dedicated sale of works from Yoshihara Jiro on the market, featuring more than 20 fresh-to-market works by the legendary avant-garde art group Gutai’s founder – one of the most influential figures in postwar art history – previously kept in the artist’s personal collection.

Contemporary Asian Art Sale, 5th of October
The sale presents a line-up of important works from the most promising and sought after artists from China, Japan and Korea, including Fang Lijun, Nara Yoshitomo and Chung Sanghwa, as well as works of young artists who constantly transform aesthetic ideologies.

Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art day sale, 5th of October
The sale brings together notable modern artists’ works such as Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Mai Trung Thu and Sudjana Kerton, with the contemporary grouping led by Jane Lee, Pacita Abad and Nyoman Masriadi, showcasing the rich diversity of Southeast Asian art.

Fine Classical Chinese Paintings, 5th of October
This autumn, Sotheby’s will launch its first dedicated sale of classical Chinese paintings in Asia for more than a decade, adding to its existing sales of the category in New York. The sale showcases more than 50 paintings and works of calligraphy, featuring rarified works from masters of the Song / Yuan to Qing dynasties.

Contemporary Ink Art, 5th of October
Contemporary Ink Art showcases diverse stylistic approaches to ink as a primary art medium by established painters whose 20th-Century innovations transformed the medium, merging traditional Asian philosophies with modern perspectives. Sale highlights range from paintings by Liu Dan, Liu Guosong and Zeng Xiaojun that reinvent traditional motifs, landscapes or calligraphies, to conceptual and abstract works by contemporary artists including Gu Wenda, Qiu Deshu, and Wang Tiande.

Fine Chinese Paintings, 6th of October
The sale offers works by leading modern Chinese artists including Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong and Wu Guanzhong, many of which were attested by prominent exhibition history. Highlights include an assemblage of paintings by acclaimed Guangdong artists including ‘Lingnan School’ founders Gao Jianfu and Gao Qifeng; as well as calligraphy works by late Qing officials and distinguished epigraphy scholars from late Qing to the early 20th century.

Important Watches, 6th of October
An eclectic array of timepieces will be offered this Autumn in celebration of the refined craftsmanship and enchanting imagination of some of the world’s most prestigious watchmakers. Among the highlights are exquisite jewellery watches including a possibly unique Cartier bangle watch in the maison’s iconic ‘Panther’ form.

Magnificent Jewels & Jadeite, 7th of October
A selection of top-quality diamonds, natural coloured gemstones, jadeite and creations of world-renowned jewellers will be offered. Among them are an astonishing 10.62-carat unheated Burmese ruby ‘Panther’ ring by Cartier, a stunning 27.68-carat Kashmir sapphire and an impressive 41.65-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond.

Chinese Works of Art, 7th of October
Imperial Consort

The sale consists of three exquisite Imperial court portraits, including an exceptionally rare large Imperial portrait of Consort Chunhui by Giuseppe Castiglione, the only known official portrait of this grand size outside of the Beijing Palace Museum. The inscription of her posthumous name is by the Qianlong Emperor himself, indicating her favoured position among the palace ladies.

Vajrayana
The sale represents the personal journey of a collector inspired by the evolution of Buddhist sculpture in the Vajrayana tradition, the esoteric path to enlightenment. Originating in seventh-Century Kashmir and ranging across the vast Himalayan plateau through Nepal, Tibet and finally Qing dynasty China, each of the figures is unique, endowed with the individual spirit under which it was commissioned for the original tantric practitioner.

Imperial Interiors
The sale consists of eight outstanding works of art commissioned for the decoration of the inner rooms of Imperial palaces, and represents some of the finest quality Imperial Qing dynasty workmanship ever to appear on the private market. Highlights include a truly magnificent twelve-panel inlaid lacquer screen. Decorated with a theme of an Imperial hunt, it is preserved in unusually good condition and is the counterpart to the famous example in the Ca’Pesaro Oriental Museum, Venice.

Important Chinese Works of Art
The Important Chinese Works of Art auction is a tightly curated assemblage of fine and rare porcelain and works of art with a particular focus on the Ming and Qing dynasties. Highlights include an outstanding blue and white brushwasher from the Xuande period (1426 – 35), formerly in the collection of Mrs Alfred Clark, painted with a fish pond design in brilliant tones of underglazeblue; and a superb Yongzheng ‘peach’ bowl from the collection of Alan Chuang, originally in the Edward T Chow collection.
