DALLAS, TX.- A splendid, 5 carat Fancy Light Pink Diamond Ring, by Chopard sold for $605,000 in
Heritage Auctions $5 million spring Fine Jewelry Auction May 4 in New York. Multiple bidders competed for large single diamonds and exceptional pieces by top designers, including a stunning, 6 carat Fancy Pink Diamond Bracelet, also by Chopard, which sold for $485,000.The auction launched a three-day, $8.8+ million offering of jewelry and luxury accessories including $3.8+ million in rare, designer handbags.
Determined collectors sought out big diamond lots and fabulous statement pieces, said Jill Burgum, Senior Director of Fine Jewelry at Heritage Auctions. Showy pieces claimed the top lot honors with colored diamonds and unmounted gems sparking spirited bidding.
Ann 8 carat Unmounted Diamond, H color and internally flawless clarity, sold for $221,000; and a 16.87 carat Unmounted Diamond, from the Kelsey Lake Mine in Colorado, hammered for $185,000. The stone set a record as the largest polished diamond of North American origin on record. It was offered with a letter from Diamond Company N.L. describing the discovery of the 28.20 carat rough diamond.
A Cartier Diamond, Platinum Necklace, featuring 52.71 carats, sold for $125,000.
The auctions top selection of colored diamonds weighed in at greater than 5 carats, such as a Fancy Yellow Diamond, Diamond, Platinum, Gold Ring, which brought $100,000; and a 7.09 carat Colored Diamond, Platinum Gold Ring sold for $62,500.
