LONDON, ENGLAND.- Frieze Art Fair, a major new international art fair, opens in London in October 17, 2003. The Frieze Art Fair is organised by Matthew Slotover and Amanda Sharp, founders of Frieze Magazine, widely recognised as one of Europe’s leading art magazines. Focusing on the most dynamic generation of galleries working today, the Fair will feature 100 UK and international exhibitors selected by a committee of respected international gallerists from Europe and the USA. The selection committee is: Gavin Brown, Gavin Brown’s enterprise Corp., New York; Sadie Coles, Sadie Coles HQ, London; Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, Artemis Greenberg van Doren Gallery, New York; Martin Klosterfelde, Klosterfelde, Berlin; Maureen Paley, Interim Art, London; Eva Presenhuber, Galerie Hauser & Wirth & Presenhuber, Zurich; Toby Webster, The Modern Institute, Glasgow. The Frieze Art Fair will be housed in a specially designed 100,000 sq ft temporary structure set in a prime location at the south end of Regents Park, within walking distance of Soho and the West End. In addition to the gallery exhibitors, specially commissioned artists’ projects will be featured throughout the Fair. There will also be a carefully structured talks programme given by major critics and curators from around the world to debate key issues in contemporary art. The Frieze Art Fair closes on October 20.
