DENVER, COLORADO.- Perhaps the greatest exhibition in Denver Art Museum history, El Greco to Picasso from The Phillips Collection is proving popular with the many visitors who have already come to view this exceptional compilation of European masterworks by 32 of the world’s most renowned and beloved artists. The exhibition will be on view at the Museum through January 4. To insure that everyone has the opportunity to see the 53 paintings and sculpture by artists including Picasso, van Gogh, Degas, El Greco, Monet, Renoir and more, El Greco to Picasso is open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, and opens at 10 a.m. on Sunday. The Museum is closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day; however, the Museum will be open New Year’s Day. Attendance is expected to increase as the holidays approach, so visitors are encouraged to come and see this unprecedented exhibition soon.
For those who want a memento from the exhibition, or who are looking for unique holiday gifts, the Museum Shop and the special exhibition shop (located across from the Information & Membership desk) offer a variety of items related to El Greco to Picasso. In addition to the catalogue, posters, postcards, books and prints, visitors can take home a van Gogh lunchbox, art cubes, glass cutting boards, dinnerware, umbrellas (including one displaying Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party), jigsaw puzzles, mousepads, t-shirts, mugs and more. For those who can’t decide on their favorite work, several items feature multiple images from El Greco to Picasso.
