DALLAS, TX.- A treasure trove of guitars and memorabilia from the archives of the Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp, an interactive event that pairs fans with chart-topping rock stars, highlight
Heritage Auctions' Aug. 23 Entertainment & Music Memorabilia Signature Auction in Beverly Hills.
With items signed by legendary rockers and camp participants including Jeff Beck, Brian Wilson, Tommy Lee, and Def Leppard, the auction proceeds from the Fantasy Camp archive will benefit Teen Cancer America, an awareness group founded by The Who's Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend which is dedicated to improving the lives of young adults battling the disease. Heritage Auctions is also donating a portion of its buyer's premium to Teen Cancer America.
"This is an archive that appeals to the rocker in all of us," said Garry Shrum, Consignment Director of Music Memorabilia at Heritage Auctions. "This archive holds incredible heirlooms from the world's finest musicians and presents a wonderful opportunity to support the next generation of music lovers."
For the last 18 years, Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp has given musicians, vocalists, and songwriters of all skill levels the opportunity to jam, record, and perform with their musical heroes. Events take place at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, and there are plans to open a camp in Canada in 2015. Upcoming Fantasy Camps include Roger Daltrey of The Who (Foxwoods, October 16-19, 2014) and Sammy Hagar of Van Halen and Chickenfoot (Mandalay Bay, February 12-15, 2015).
During the course of the camp, campers are placed in a band with a rock star counselor, perform live at the House of Blues or another local venue, write and record an original song, and enjoy visits from A-list rock stars who jam with each of the bands.
Among the memorabilia in the Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp Archive is a 2012 Fender Squier CY Bullet Stratocaster boldly signed by all five members of Def Leppard (est. $1,200+); a Main Street Double Cutaway guitar signed by Rob Halford, Scott Travis, Ian Hill, and Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest (est. $1,200+); a stunning 2012 natural finish Fender Squier Affinity Series Telecaster, signed by guitarist Jeff Beck, famous for his solo efforts and as a former member of The Yardbirds (est. $1,000+). A Parker Tobacco Sunburst P-38 Electric Guitar is positively covered in signatures by the likes of Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran), Steve Vai (Whitesnake), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osborne), Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers) and five others (est. $1,000+).
The archive also offers a Yes 90125 RIAA Triple Platinum Record Award (est. $1,000+) and a drumhead signed by Mötley Crüe star Tommy Lee (est. $800+).
