SAN JOSE, CA.- In January 2013 the ICA launched On the Road, a satellite exhibition program that seeks to expand the ICA's footprint beyond the gallery, serving its mission to support regional contemporary artists as well as significant artists based outside of the Bay Area associated with the ICA. The ICA mounts an ongoing exhibition at the San Jose Mineta International Airport Club Lounge, as well as exhibitions that travel to other contemporary art venues.

In 2012, the ICA mounted the acclaimed Rashomon exhibition by the nationally distinguished sculptor Chuck Ginnever in its Main Gallery. After extending the ICA exhibition to include an outdoor installation on the grounds at the Montalvo Arts Center through December of 2013, Ginnever's Rashomon has gone "on the road" and is now on view at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico through November 2, 2014. Cathy Kimball, Executive Director of the ICA, said, "This exhibition was years in the planning and we are thrilled to have Ginnever's sculpture captivate a new audience beyond our gallery walls."

This extraordinary work takes on new meaning and perspectives with each new installation. Comprised of 15 three-foot high steel sculptures identical in shape and placed in unique positions, every angle presents a different work of art as the viewer moves around the group of sculptures. Ginnever has said, "My work sits motionless and is only activated by the viewer moving around it - only then does it start to perform." Each of the 15 pieces can be moved to 15 distinct positions, creating an endless dialogue between the space and the viewer's perspectives.
