MADRID.- "Photographies in a certain Space" is a photographic exhibition in which, until July 31, we find thirty photographs of Eduardo Momeñe, obtained in study from 1978 to 2014. A selection of images in black and white that offers a journey through the photographic history of over three decades in the study of the author. Photographs taken over years of great cultural vitality in the city of Madrid. The show gets into the Off Festival of PHotoEspaña 2014.

Portraits, figures and re-enactments of a photographic universe created over the years in the same, and minimum, space. A journey without displacements in which the author plays, in the manner of the great painters of the past, with the limitations of a chosen space and the way of projecting light to discover / uncover the psychology of his characters. Parallel to the exhibition several videos will be displayed as a visual and conceptual complement to the photographs.

We talk about the space built by the camera. I call it photographic space, also visual scenario. It is convenient to distinguish it from the idea of place, of the place where the events take place. In the case that concerns us, the images are built in a Studio, a barely visible place, hard-reachable on the map and with no points of reference. A unstable ground on which support the camera, a place in lethargy, neutral, without identity, nothing happens if we do not make something happen. It is something like a non-place where photographic spaces are buit in order to, after that, are registered to obtain photographic images. They are spaces that are manufactured with the look, and a camera is required to share them, to share the experience, an aesthetic experience, in principle.

For more than three decades I have been submerged in this place, producer of "studio" photographs. I Still feel the pleasure to isolate myself from the noise of the world; but sometimes, however, I left it to look for another spaces, to photograph the world from another places.

During this time -that it's much-, the camera has been located on the same floor, everything happened in the same four square meters. It's like the in Wells' time machine that, thanks to the fact that the time exists, has traveled hundreds of worlds without moving an inch. It is the world that moves, not the camera on its tripod. I'm not tired of travel this world without geography, a photographic trip, but certainly an inner one.

Eduardo Momeñe is a photographer, teacher, columnist and author of essays on photographic aesthetics. He has taught numerous courses, workshops and seminars, and is the author of the book "The photographic vision", which has quickly become a reference on photography. Throughout his extensive career, he has developed numerous projects, including the television series on photography "The open door" or "Pictures", both well known in the photographic world.

Magazines such as Vogue, Style, Marie Claire or Elle, have published his photographs. Since his first exhibition in Barcelona's Nikon Gallery in 1974, until the last one in Madrid's Círculo de Bellas Artes in 2013-2014, he has shown his work on numerous occasions both in Spain and abroad, and his photographs are included in several public and private collections. He currently coordinates the international master "New documentary, new reality" in the school of photography EFTI in Madrid; in addition he is preparing a new book, continues to work on new photographic series and has started working in the audiovisual field.
