PARIS.- From 10th to 14th June, Octagone will present mural sculptures by Stevens Dossou-Yovo, together with a selection of drawings which will be shown to the public for the first time.

This display will shed unprecedented light on the artist’s experimentation with metal and on his creative process. The show will demonstrate the importance of drawing in his practise and mastery of perspective.

Stevens was born in Paris. He graduated from the Penninghen art and design school and dedicated himself to metal sculpture. While he produced anthropomorphic sculptures and automata early on, Stevens now focuses on the representation of space through powerful, levitating compositions. These are achieved through meticulous preparatory drawings and invisible structures, which enable the artist to materialise his inner vision.

Steel is Stevens’ preferred medium: a basic, yet versatile material, it lends itself to all sorts of experimentations. The metal can be given various surface treatments, depending on the final effect intended.

Now enamelled, now oxydised, it can also be lined with digital prints or coated with white paint, therefore producing various illusions. Stevens was awarded the Prix Antoine Marin; his work has been shown in London, Gstaad, Paris and Ibiza. He was commissioned several large pieces for the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie.
