"The Donna Moog Teapot Collection"

RACINE, WISCONSIN.- The Racine Art Museum (RAM) presents "The Donna Moog Teapot Collection," on view through January 4, 2004. Be there for the debut of a major gift of a 250-piece contemporary ceramic teapot collection to Racine Art Museum from St. Louis collector Donna Moog. Created primarily in the 1980s and 1990s, this collection forms a snapshot of the diverse ceramic activity that took place during these two decades. A variety of approaches to the medium are represented, ranging from functional teapots created by studio potters, to sculptural works by some of the leading figures in contemporary clay.

Brewing Up Interest: Accoutrements for Tea from RAM’s Collection - Regardless of a ceramic artist’s style, the teapot is an important form that eventually appears in his or her body of work. Before the Moog collection arrived, RAM was already collecting teapots and items associated with brewing tea, such as tea strainers, tea cozies and teacups. A selection of these works will accompany the Moog exhibition.
