Botero's celebrated "Male Torso" moves to new home at SLS Lux
The over 10-foot tall “Male Torso” executed in 1992 is perhaps Botero's largest and most widely exhibited bronze, having been shown on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and in Chicago, London, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, and other major cities worldwide.

MIAMI, FL.- Botero’s celebrated "Male Torso, 1992" was moved to the corner of SW 9th Street and South Miami Avenue at the site of the new sales center, across from Brickell City Centre.

Developer Jorge Perez and gallerist Gary Nader marked the installation of a monumental bronze sculpture by Colombian artist Fernando Botero in a high-visibility Brickell location. The bold move by The Related Group, in partnership with The Allen Morris Company, demonstrates the multimillion-dollar commitment to incorporating public art into their new Brickell area masterpiece, SLS Lux Hotel and Residences.

Its new home is near the entrance of the future SLS Lux Hotel lobby. Eventually, Related also plans to permanently bring another monumental Botero sculpture to the corner of SW 8th Street and South Miami Avenue.

Gary Nader, whose Wynwood Arts District gallery and sculpture park specializes in contemporary and Latin American art, is making the piece available. “It is really exciting for me that Botero’s magnificent Male Torso may have a permanent home in Miami. This installation by Related reinforces our city’s status as a place where important art is part of the fabric of everyday life.”

"Together with our partners we want to enhance Miami's public art," said Perez. "These signature works will identify the SLS Lux Hotel and Residences worldwide, and distinguish the project as the Brickell area’s prime luxury residential tower in Brickell."

Sales for SLS Lux began last week and demand has been high, with close to $100 million reserved in the first week alone.
