SARASOTA, FL.- Season of Sculpture, Season VII’s, “Shared Ground: Small Works Exhibition” is opening on January 22nd in the Herald-Tribune building, 1741 Main Street, in Sarasota, Florida.

The exhibition will feature a selection of smaller-scale works by Hans Van de Bovenkamp, Richard Herzog, Linda Howard, Jun Kaneko, Jae-Hyo Lee, Boaz Vaadia and Robert Chambers*. The show is curated by Fayanne Hayes and Andrew Maass.

This exhibition provides the public with an introduction to smaller works and maquettes, by artists usually known for their monumental work, in an intimate, interior setting: the Sarasota Herald-Tribune’s handsome and spacious glass-walled lobby gallery. The works presented will include wall hanging, pedestal and freestanding sculptures.

Viewers are encouraged to compare and contrast this new indoor exhibition with the large-scale works by these same artists currently on display in the Sarasota downtown bayfront outdoor exhibition, “Shared Ground: Eight Artists-Eighteen Installations.” Rarely does the public have an opportunity to study the varied work of individual artists, from the vantage point of different styles, sizes and venues, all within close proximity of each other.

Two area artists, David Peterson and Jerry Soble, have been invited by the Season of Sculpture Board of Directors and sponsored by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, to display their sculpture in the Small Works exhibition.

*Robert Chambers' "Elipsota" is a permanent art installation commissioned by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune

The Small Works exhibition remains open until May 3Oth, Monday-Friday 8 AM-5 PM. The bayfront exhibition is also up until May 3Oth and open to the public 24/7.
