SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Christies Private Sales announced that the British luxury leather goods brand Mulberry Store in San Francisco and Town&Country are hosting a Private Sales Exhibition for Andy Warhol at Christies, a multi-year, multi-platform partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
The week-long private sales exhibition in the third-floor gallery space of the Mulberry store in San Franciscos financial district features 36 photographs, prints and works on paper by Andy Warhol, many of which have never been seen before by the public, offered at price points ranging from $2,000 to $30,000. These include holiday-themed works on paper from early in the Pop artists career when he worked as a commercial illustrator during the 1950s, and several Polaroid prints from the 1980s with subjects ranging from Santa Claus to Cabbage Patch Kids dolls.
Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public. The pop-up is the latest in a series of thematic exhibitions by Christies Private Sales and the fifth in the United States in partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Andy Warhol at Christies, which launched last year, includes live auctions, online-only auctions and private sales of works from the collection of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, with proceeds benefitting the Foundations grant-making initiatives.
Amelia Manderschied, Christies Specialist of Post-War & Contemporary Art and Head of Sale for Andy Warhol at Christies, comments: We are excited to partner with Mulberry and Town&Country to present a truly unique exhibition devoted to the holiday theme of the iconic master of Pop Art. With all works of art sourcing from the Warhol Foundation, this is a fantastic opportunity to buy a one-of-a-kind holiday gift while benefiting an outstanding arts organization.
Jay Fielden, editor in chief, Town&Country, states: We couldnt be more pleased to be a part of Andy Warhol at Christies what a unique opportunity to experience the works of 'one of America's most important art showmen' and support the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The San Francisco Mulberry Gallery is the perfect spot to play host to these iconic holiday pieces as we embark on the most important shopping and giving times of the year.
Carl Barbato, Mulberry, notes: Mulberry is privileged to host the exhibition Andy Warhol at Christies in the third-floor gallery space of Mulberry San Francisco. As a brand that celebrates craftsmanship, to be able to partner with Christies and Town&Country on this project was an incredible opportunity. We look forward to inviting San Francisco to experience Warholiday this season.
