CHICAGO, IL.- Wright opened its fall season with Living Contemporary, a lifestyle auction comprised of fine art and design reflecting the way collectors live today. The sale sold 80% by lot and 80% by value, achieving a total of $1.8 million.

The top lot of Living Contemporary was a painting by Alexander Calder, Jeux de l’Oie (Lot 208). The $100,900 result was over triple its low estimate of $30,000. A linocut by Pablo Picasso, Grande Tête de Femme au Chapeau, was the second most expensive artwork in the auction, with a result of $80,500 (Lot 185). Other lots which performed well include:

· Lot 116: Richard Long, African Walk. Estimate: $50,000-70,000. Result: $52,000.

· Lot 133: Andy Warhol, Muhammad Ali. Estimate: $30,000-40,000. Result: $45,000.

· Lot 149: Sean Scully, #11. Estimate: $7,000-9,000. Result: $15,000.

· Lot 151: Maarten van Severen, KL95 bookcase. Estimate: $5,000-7,000. Result: $26,250.

· Lot 162: Christopher Wool, 6 + 4 (portfolio of ten works). Estimate: $15,000-20,000. Result: $17,500.

· Lot 218: Pepe Mendoza, pair of lamps. Estimate: $5,000-7,000. Result: $17,500.

· Lot 262: James Mont, pair of lounge chairs. Estimate: $5,000-7,000. Result: $25,000.

The dark horse lot of the sale was an anonymous cabinet with sculpted geometric doors, estimated at $3,000-5,000 (Lot 170). It sold for $21,250. Another unknown design, an Italian sofa, exceeded expectations by selling for $21,250 which is over three times its low estimate (Lot 222).
