CHICAGO, IL.- The Chicago Artists Coalition announced a highly curated exhibitor list featuring 11 premier galleries for the inaugural EDITION Chicago, Sept. 20 22, 2013. Additional galleries will be announced in September. As the first satellite fair to take place the same weekend as EXPO CHICAGO, The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art at Navy Pier (Sept. 19 22), EDITION Chicago is a unique complement to the citywide efforts of establishing Chicago as a premier destination for contemporary art while offering new collectors an accessible entry point into the art market. As a contemporary art fair that connects new and established collectors to galleries and organizations representing and promoting emerging artists from around the country, EDITION Chicago encourages dealers to exhibit high quality, cutting-edge work that presents new ideas, while remaining financially attainable.
"We are pleased to present such a diverse and respected list of galleries in our first year that proves great contemporary art can be found in all price ranges," said Executive Director of CAC Carolina O. Jayaram. "Not only is the new EDITION Chicago an incredible opportunity to start building an art collection or add to your existing collection, but the satellite fair builds on the exciting momentum surrounding art in Chicago right now that CAC is proud to be an integral part of.
The galleries represented at EDITION Chicago will showcase works in an intimate, energetic environment that is a core space for Chicagos creative community. As a celebration of the fairs inaugural presentation, Chicago-based artist Cody Hudson will produce a limited edition print available on-site.
EDITION Chicago is debuting with an impressive roster of galleries, said Creative Director of EDITION Chicago and exhibitor Andrew Rafacz. I look forward to being among my peers from Chicago, as well as those from around the nation, showing accessible art, while building new audiences in this multi-platform environment.
The list of 2013 exhibiting galleries includes:
Andrew Rafacz Gallery (Chicago) Carter + Citizen (Los Angeles) Chicago Artists Coalition (Chicago) Document (Chicago) Michael Klein Projects (Toronto) LaMontagne Gallery (Boston) Manneken Press (Bloomington, IL) Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago) Walter Maciel Gallery (Los Angeles) threewalls (Chicago) The Mission (Chicago)
An invitation-only, VIP champagne breakfast preview for EDITION Chicago will be held Friday, September 20, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. sponsored by Ruinart Champagne and Land and Sea Dept., the concept and project development studio behind Longman & Eagle and Parsons Chicken and Fish.
