NEW YORK, NY.- Gallery presentations at the 25th annual ADAA Art Show, the nation's longest running fine art fair, will feature thoughtfully curated solo, two-person, and thematic exhibitions by 72 of the nation’s leading art dealers. The Art Show takes place March 6 through March 10, 2013 at the historic Park Avenue Armory, with a ticketed Gala Preview on Tuesday, March 5. All ticket proceeds from the gala and run of show benefit Henry Street Settlement, one of New York City’s most effective social services agencies. AXA Art Insurance Corporation has also returned as Lead Partner for the second consecutive year.

With the celebration of ADAA’s 50th anniversary, and the 25th edition of The Art Show, Art Show Chairman, Adam Sheffer, states, “ADAA’s Art Show broke new ground in producing a stellar art fair in New York City 25 years ago. Today, The Art Show continues to be an ideal venue for New Yorkers and visitors to connect with artists and dealers and purchase exquisite works.” The 2013 Art Show leads a contingent of art fairs around New York City such as The Armory Show, VOLTA, The Independent, and SCOPE, which also take place during the same week.

Solo Booths
One of the premier trademarks of The Art Show remains the emphasis on one-person presentations, and the 25th Anniversary edition is no exception. With an unprecedented 40 solo shows the 2013 Art Show will present exhibitions of art world icons and introduce audiences to groundbreaking new artists. David Zwirner will install an exhibition introducing show-stopping, early works by Milton Avery, as Cheim & Read will reveal never-before-exhibited works by Jannis Kounellis. Luhring Augustine’s presentation will feature work by Zarina Hashmi, whose retrospective exhibition is currently on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim in New York.

Marian Goodman Gallery will present a solo installation of work by Tacita Dean and Pace Gallery will present new work by Kiki Smith. Lehmann Maupin will offer a solo booth presentation of work by Mary Corse, highlighting her innovative technique of painting with glass microspheres. Sean Scully’s Black Paintings and Works on Paper (1975-1980) presented by Galerie Lelong will focus on a select group of the artist’s under-recognized yet seminal works. Sean Kelly Gallery’s booth will feature Robert Mapplethorpe’s radiant photographic portraits of fellow artists and art world luminaries.

Thematic Exhibitions
In addition to solo shows, The Art Show remains unparalleled with its installation of curated, thematic exhibitions. Acquavella Galleries, Inc. will present, Masterworks Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the ADAA, highlighting key works displayed and sold during the five decades of their ADAA membership. Specific Spaces, an exhibition from Barbara Krakow Gallery will feature Bernd & Hilla Becher, Peter Downsbrough, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Julian Opie, Liliana Porter, and Richard Serra. A survey juxtaposing Cubist and Pop artists will be on view at Richard L. Feigen & Co including works by Braque, Picasso, Rosenquist, Wesselman and Ray Johnson.

ADAA Collectors’ Forum
On the occasion of ADAA’s 50th anniversary, the Collectors’ Forum Series presents two Keynote Lectures during The Art Show 2013. Jock Reynolds, Director of the Yale University Art Gallery, and Michael Findlay, Director of Acquavella Galleries, will each offer their thoughts as they envision what the art world might look like over the next decade.
