PITTSBURGH, PA.- The Andy Warhol Museum has promoted Patrick Moore as the museum’s new Deputy Director. Moore was hired in 2011 as Director of Development, and came to The Warhol from his most recent post at The Persad Center where he was the New Business Development Director. Moore began his new position as Deputy Director at The Warhol on September 1, 2012.

Before joining The Persad Center, Moore developed a national program that addressed the impact of the AIDS crisis on the national arts community while working as Project Director for The Estate Project for Artists with AIDS, a project of The Alliance for The Arts in New York City. He produced special projects and exhibitions with leading contemporary artists such as Ed Ruscha and Catherine Opie. Moore organized two successful print portfolios, The Geldzahler Portfolio and 1989, which raised funds for The Estate Project, which were placed in major institutional and private collections around the world. The Geldzahler Portfolio featured specially commissioned works by Frank Stella, James Rosenquist, Louise Bourgeois, David Salle, David Hockney, Ellsworth Kelly, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Dennis Hopper and Francesco Clemente. 1989 included work from Chuck Close, Nan Goldin, Jim Hodges, Frank Moore, Jorge Pardo, Jack Pierson, Lari Pittman, Cindy Sherman, Laurie Simmons, Kiki Smith and Robert Wilson.

"I'm delighted to support the vision Eric Shiner and the Board of Directors have for The Warhol, a museum I care deeply about. I believe The Warhol is the model for a more entrepreneurial kind of museum, reflective of Andy Warhol's interest in business. The Warhol is the rare institution that can operate meaningfully on local, national and international levels, and I look forward to advancing the museum's mission in all of these arenas,” Moore said.

Eric Shiner, director of The Warhol added, “Patrick Moore is a consummate professional in all that he touches. As Deputy Director of The Warhol, he will help to further strengthen the museum and our strategic initiatives for the future. It doesn’t hurt that he’s suave and stylish – the perfect fit for The Warhol. Thanks to his strong background in the arts, Patrick will help lead us into our next iteration as a truly global museum.”

Moore is also an accomplished author of several non-fiction books and has worked as a professional journalist. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Times, Newsday and The Advocate. Moore received a 2005 GLAAD Media Award Nomination as Outstanding Newspaper Columnist for work in the Los Angeles Times and Newsday. Moore was also an “Expert Blogger” for Yahoo! Health.

Moore received a BA in English Literature/ Theater Direction from Carnegie Mellon University in 1985.
